TrackLogs Digital Mapping v3.12.05 Software Update
Compatibility : Windows XP, Windows Vista.
Size : 27,028KB. Language : English

TrackLogs v3.12.05 Release Notes:
The following changes are included in the v3.12.05 production release of TrackLogs Digital Mapping.
| Package Import Countdown Timer | |
| The package import countdown is corrected to show the remaining time when importing multiple packages. This is predominantly addressing the package import from DVD products where the data volume imported can be large and time to completion is most relevant. Form wording is also modified to include import from DVD. |
| Profile Window Crash | |
| When the profile window is reduced to a very small vertical size the application can error on loading a route file. The same error may also occur when adding the second point to a new track. The profile window is fixed to handle all sizes and will display appropriate messages when insufficient space is available for profile rendering. |
| Printing Page Ranges | |
| The page range, multiple page and collated page options are now fully supported in the print setup forms. Users may use these controls to manage the generation of multiple print copies or to print selected page ranges from a larger print area. Minor issues with clipped instruction text in the print wizard form are also resolved. |
| Primary Distance in Object Window | |
| The primary distance column in the object window was only applicable to waypoint object types (displaying the distance along the primary path physically closest to the waypoint location). This has been extended to include trackpoint object types which will now display the distance into the primary path of the individual track point. |
| Favourites and Route Folder Management | |
| The Handling of favourites and routes within their specific windows has been improved to correctly support full editing including folder creation and deletion. Keyboard shortcuts for delete (del) and rename (f2) are also added. Deleted files are now routed to the recycle bin allowing for accidental file recovery using the standard Windows recycle bin interfaces. Sort order of files and folders is improved to follow windows conventions in all instances. |
| Favourite Comments | |
| The user supplied comments that can be added to a favourite are now displayed in a notes pane located at the foot of the favourites window. The Organise favourites form now supports editing the comment text. |
| Drag Drop Positioning | |
| The status bar position information will continue to update during a drag/drop toolbox operation. This allows the user to accurately position the drop in a single operation. |
| 3D Landscape Width | |
| The physical limits of the 3D window are extended to support the full width of landscape format monitors preventing truncation of the display when extending the width of the window. |
TrackLogs v3.12.03 Release Notes:
The following changes are included in the v3.12.03 production release of TrackLogs Digital Mapping.
| Licence Keys | |
| Users downloading a v3.11 demo followed by the purchase of a fully licensed v3.12 product may have experienced problems with persistent prompts to enter the licence key. This is now fixed and users should download this update after which they may be prompted to input the licence key one more time after which it will be retained correctly. Also includes improvements for licensing on the Vista operating system. |
| Copy and Paste | |
| Copy and paste between multiple open routes could corrupt track junctions by incorrectly connecting track segments to the start of the route. This is fixed and allows the transfer of route segments (with and without junctions) via the copy and paste techniques. |
| Default Waypoint Style | |
| Fixed to allow users to save their preferred default style for a waypoint component. |
| Text Box Opacity | |
| When adjusting the opacity (transparency) of a text box from the properties window the slider behaviour could appear erratic. Full control of text box opacity within a text polygon is now supported from either the slider or the edit box within the properties window. |
| High Resolution Icons | |
| Vista users have the option to use larger icons for applications installed on the windows desktop. Higher resolution icons have been added for the TrackLogs applications to support these user preferences. |
TrackLogs v3.12.02 Release Notes:
The following changes are included in the v3.12.02 production release of TrackLogs Digital Mapping.
| Naismith Configuration | |
| The Naismith configuration pages caused some confusion during the addition of new rulesets. This has been rewritten to improve usability. Naismith rules may now be expressed in the classic format or through easier mph/kph style parameters. The selected Naismith algorithm for the active route can also be set from the "Edit=>Naismith" option in the main menu or from the toolbar in the statistics window. |
| Measurement Units | |
| The units of measure, i.e. km,miles, feet, metres may be customized from the "View=>Measurement Units" and from the toolbar in the statistics window. This accelerates the process for users wishing to change units frequently. |
| Gradient Units | |
| Added configuration options to format the way in which gradients are displayed. Users can now select between a ratio style (1:5) or a percentage style (20%). This preference is used in all instances where gradients are displayed. |
| Vista Windows Theme | |
| Users migrating to Windows Vista will have observed that the coloured designer theme does not render the same colours as were seen on Windows XP. This is because the designer theme utilised the Windows XP luna colours (blue, silver, olive) which are no longer used in Windows Vista. The new Vista theme should be used instead and this renders the windows using a familiar pale blue style. |
| Black Mapping Screen on Route Load | |
| When loading a route created in a third party application or a v2 version of TrackLogs the mapping screen could turn black as no default mapping dataset was selected for the new route. This is fixed to force selection of an appropriate mapping dataset for the route being loaded. |
| Waypoint Position and Resizing | |
| Resizing and repositioning of a waypoint could, under some circumstances, cause a loss of correlation between the onscreen position of the waypoint and the co-ordinates reported in the properties window. This is fixed allowing freedom to resize and reposition waypoints and their associated textboxes. |
| Extra Routecard Pages | |
| Extra pages are no longer printed with the routecard. These extra pages were specific to some printer drivers and contained no routecard instructions but did include a profile in the footer of the page. |
| Routecard Profile | |
| The inclusion of the elevation profile in the footer of the routecard is now optional and can be enabled and disabled from within tools options. |
| Time Resolution | |
| Extracted times for route summary and routecard legs are extended to show hours, minutes and seconds. The rounding algorithms are also corrected to ensure that all calculated timing statistics sum to the appropriate totals. |
| Route Close with X | |
| The X symbol at the top right of the route window can be used to close the active route. This now prompts to save changes when the route being closed has been modified. |
| Route Description and Startpoint | |
| These could corrupt when changed whilst multiple routes were open. This is now fixed allowing full control over these fields from within the properties window. |
| Custom Favourite Locations | |
| Problems with the specification of a custom location for a new "favourite" are resolved. New favourites may be created at the current map location or at a specific location supplied in the favourites dialog. |
| Missing File Extensions | |
| File export to third party formats is fixed to supply the appropriate file extension for the type of file being saved. This eradicates the problem of TrackLogs files being saved without a trl file extension. |
| History Undo/Redo | |
| The text displayed in the redo command is corrected to show the action which will be redone. The history buffer is also corrected to allow for the undo/redo of the first action carried out on a new route or route opened from file. |
| Route Modified Prompts | |
| When working with multiple open routes the modified status of each route could become corrupted forcing additional prompts to save changes where no changes had been made. This is resolved to allow the unprompted closure of routes which have not been modified. |
| Save and Apply Default Styles | |
| Each component type in the toolbox has a default visual style which can be updated from a selected component or applied to a selected component. The commands to save and apply these default styles are added to the formatting toolbar and the outline/fill properties page to make these more accessible. |
| Statistics Summary Highlighting | |
| The summary information shown for all open routes is shown in the statistics window. The currently active route is now highlighted in bold. |
| Co-Ordinate Rounding | |
| The OS grid position reported in the properties window is fixed to truncate the grid reference to the lower left corner of the square in line with conventional navigational practice. The size of the square depends on the precision of the grid reference selected by the user. |
| Drop Shadow Stats | |
| The properties view "drop shadow" checkbox was not updating correctly to reflect the drop shadow status of the selected objects. This is fixed. |
| Formatting Toolbars | |
| The controls in the formatting toolbar are used to change the colour, style and transparency of a component's fill and outline. These toolbar controls are modified to follow the Microsoft conventions. For example, selection of a colour for fill will set that colour as the default colour for the control and the coloured line in the icon will change to show this. Subsequent clicks on the icon will apply that colour without requiring the user to re-select the colour from the colour picker menu. |
| Track Styles | |
| When deleting a trackpoint the attached track is manipulated to reconnect the adjacent points. Where multiple track styles are used this could result in a loss of those customised styles. This is fixed to retain the style of the neighbouring track when points are deleted. |
| Routecard and Statistics | |
| The routecard and statistics views are combined into a single window. This retains and extends all the previous capabilities of each window. Routecards can now be accessed by selecting the routecard icon in the statistics window toolbar. Additional views in the window report hill analysis statistics for climbs and descents. All views in the statistics window now include user control over column insertion, row grouping, sort order, print and print preview. |
| Hill Extraction | |
| The statistics window includes pages reporting statistics for the significant ascents and descents in the active route. These are calculated using a hill extraction algorithm which can be controlled from settings in the tools=>options=>algorithms pages. The extracted hills can be highlighted using coloured arrows on the route. |
| Routecard Odometer | |
| The routecard now includes an optional column for cumulative distance (odometer). This can be configured to show the accumulated mileage at the start or end of the route leg. The same configuration option also controls the ETA calculations. |
| Point Filter | |
| The point filter used to reduce the complexity of tracks uploaded from GPS is now available from the tools menu as in interactive control. When run on the active route it can be used to filter the number of points in a route down to a manageable level. This would be done to make a track downloaded from GPS more manageable or to reduce the point count prior to transfer into a GPS. As points are removed the maximum introduced error is reported. |
| Profile Window Axis Annotations | |
| The red cursor in the profile window now includes axis annotations reporting the elevation and distance/time at the current position. The annotations may be enabled and disabled from the tools options pages. |
| Routecard Start/Finish Points | |
| The start and finish points in a route can cause confusion in a routecard as legs derived from user waypoints may not form a complete set of stages around the route. Start and finish points are now inserted automatically where no suitable waypoint exists close to the start or finish respectively. These additional points are used to create artifical legs in the routecard. |
| Statistical Analysis Layout | |
| The built in layouts are extended to include a new "Statistical Analysis" screen layout. This reflects the new statistics window capabilities. |
| Tooltip Verbosity | |
| The default tooltips shown when hovering over a toolbar icon are altered to a new style which shows more information about the control. |
| Window Positioning | |
| Application window positioning is sticky on exit. On restart application will position and size itself in previous exit location. Can be enabled/disabled from tools=>options. |
| Window Positioning | |
| Docked window layouts are sticky on exit. On restart, application will position and size docked windows in previous exit location. Problems with undocked windows on startup are fixed and saved layouts can be used with windows undocked from main application. Can be enabled/disabled from tools=>options. |
| Window Layout Management | |
| Additional window layout manager added to provide user control of saved window layouts. This is limited to the deletion of user created docked window layouts which were previously not removable from within the application. |
| Toolbar Customisation | |
| All toolbars may be repositioned and toolbar content may also be customised to suit user requirements. Customised toolbar content and position is sticky on exit and, on restart, toolbars will return to position in previous exit location. Can be enabled/disabled from tools=>options. |
| Toolbar Contents | |
| Added quick layout selector to the view toolbar. Can be used to select a built in or user defined saved window layout. |
| Status Bar | |
| Status bar at foot of application was clipping grid reference text when non standard windows fonts were used on the desktop. This is remedied by the allocation of some additional screen state for this information. |
| Status Bar | |
| Status bar information at foot of application is extended to include altitude at the current mouse pointer position. This information is in addition to the grid reference currently displayed. |
| File Formats | |
| Support for the following file formats has been added to improve interoperability with other GPS software. GPS Interchange Format (GPX), MapTech Marker Format (MXF), MapTech Route Format (RXF). Note that GPX file format includes both v1.0 and v1.1. Saved GPX files are generated in v1.1 format. |
| Printing | |
| Map detail and edge marking of grid lines can be suppressed during printout. This is optional and is set in the route options tab of the print dialogue. |
| Route Properties | |
| Route properties are extended to include authoring and copyright information. These fields are set from the properties window for a route and are used to convey author and copyright information when saving TrackLogs files. Data interchange with 3rd party file formats is handled where file format support permits. Default author and copyright information can be set in tools=>options. Defaults can also be set directly from the properties form. |
| Route Properties | |
| Description and startpoint handling fields are fixed to handle multiline and long text entries correctly. |
| Magnifier | |
| Added zoom lock facility to link magnifier window zoom to 2D mapping window. This enables the magnifier window to track the current zoom level in the 2D mapping. This is in addition to any magnification set within the magnifier window. |
| Virtual Memory | |
| Use of virtual memory is reduced to 1/3rd previous amount improving performance when handling larger routes. |
| Toolbox Restore | |
| The default toolbox can now be recovered in all circumstances by using the right click context menu in the toolbox window. |
| Dialog Resizing | |
| GPS and AVI movie export dialogs can now be resized. Positions of all resizing dialogs are saved on exit. |
| Windows Classic | |
| Screen corruptions experienced when running windows XP in classic mode are fixed. |
| High DPI Monitors | |
| Users running windows in a higher DPI setting may have seen on-screen corruptions when using the GPS, print and configuration dialogs. These corruptions are fixed and TrackLogs now supports user defined DPI settings. |
| Course Points | |
| Course points sent to Garmin training devices (Edge/Forerunner) will now appear correctly around the course. |
| Lat/Lon | |
| The WGS84 Lat/Lon position of the selected object is added to the properties window. This is included to allow TomTom users direct access to this raw position data where the TomTom device does not support OS grid references. |
