Route Description

A tough route crossing the Pennines from west to east and back again. The Pennines are at their narrowest at the southern reaches between Rochdale and Huddersfield and this makes a double crossing by bike possible in under 20 miles. Trapped between the scar of the M62 and acres of isolated moorland the "station to station walk" is the only rideable passage across the hills. Named from the two railway stations it links (Marsden and Littleworth) this tough track gets you all the way over the Pennines almost entirely off road. The return leg uses a couple of road sections to ease the pain but still packs plenty of up and down including a vicious granny gear pull out of Marsden.
