Route DescriptionSo what did the Romans ever give us? Well the Old Roamin' Road for starters. Following the flank of Win Hill this classic bridlepath climbs and then descends quickly over grassy peakland trails turning sandy, then stoney, then rocky, then very rocky all the way down to the Woodlands Valley floor. Add to that a couple of intense climbs, more rocky descents and one of the best heather singletrack descents in the peak district and you have what is rapidly becoming a hallmark peak district route.
It's short at a snip over 16 miles but it's an intense ride which packs in plenty of altitude and some seriously rocky sections. The novice biker probably won't enjoy this ride as the climbs are steep and the descents are severe. We suggest you try a few less aggressive rides first. For the experienced biker it's a classic. |
